Davidianos - Branch Davidian
David Koresh, nacido como Vernon Wayne Howell (17 de agosto de 1959 - 19 de abril de 1993). Vivió en Houston , Texas y fue el líder de los Davidianos, una secta cristiana apocalíptica. Koresh y otros 74 seguidores murieron el 19 de abril de 1993 durante un cerco policial en el recinto donde se encontraban los davidianos en Waco, Texas, cuando un incendio arrasó con toda la estructura. Koresh, que se autoproclamaba la reencarnación de Cristo, había sido acusado de mantener relaciones sexuales con adolescentes, que él llamaba sus esposas, y de forzar a sus seguidores a proporcionarle grandes cantidades de dinero. También fue acusado de almacenar metralletas M16 y otros objetos militares. La secta de los davidianos se basaba en un fundamentalismo cristiano que anunciaba el Apocalipsis. De cualquier forma, la tragedia había finalizado y Waco sería ya, en el futuro, un nombre de referencia macabro y maldito. Es una población, por cierto, predestinada a sufrir algo parecido teniendo en cuenta los datos de que, para 90.000 habitantes, había 18 armerías y 200 iglesias.
